This policy explains how Leadvise Legal B.V. collects, uses and protects personal data through leadviselegal.com, in line with the GDPR and Dutch privacy law. Most of what we receive here is business contact information from law firms. FindLawyer.nl, which we also run, has its own privacy policy.
01Who we are
This website is operated by Leadvise Legal B.V. (“we”, “us”). We are the controller for the personal data described in this policy.
- Legal name: Leadvise Legal B.V.
- Website: leadviselegal.com
- Registered address: Lise Meitnerweg 72, 2333 CZ Leiden, Netherlands
- Chamber of Commerce (KvK): 98899120
- Email: leads@findlawyer.nl
This policy should be read together with our website terms. Where both describe the same processing, this policy is the authoritative description.
02Data protection officer
Given the nature and scale of our processing, we are not required to appoint a data protection officer under Article 37 GDPR. Privacy questions are handled directly by the directors. Contact: leads@findlawyer.nl.
03What we collect and why
Estimate requests
What we collect: your name, firm, work email and, optionally, phone number; the size of the firm, its practice areas and country; the process you want help with and the software you use; and, if you came from the calculator, the numbers you entered there.
Why: to assess your request, reply to it and, if it makes sense for both sides, prepare a proposal.
Legal basis: steps taken at your request before entering into a contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR). Where you contact us on behalf of a firm, also our legitimate interest in answering business enquiries (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
If you do not provide it: without your name, firm, email and a short description of the process, we cannot reply to the request.
Retention: 12 months from our last contact, unless the request leads to an engagement (see “Clients” below).
Call bookings
What we collect: your name, work email, firm, the time you choose, your time zone and anything you add about what you would like to discuss, including calculator numbers if you came from the calculator. Bookings are made through Calendly, and calls take place on Google Meet.
Why: to schedule and hold the call you asked for.
Legal basis: steps taken at your request before entering into a contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).
Retention: 12 months from the date of the call, unless it leads to an engagement.
Email and other contact
What we collect: your name, email address and the content of your message.
Why: to answer your question.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries about our services (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Retention: 12 months from the last correspondence.
The calculator
The hours calculator runs in your browser. The numbers you enter stay there and in the link you copy; we only receive them if you send a request or book a call from the calculator.
Analytics
What we collect, only if you allow it: pages visited, interactions such as using the calculator or sending a form, referral source, device and browser type, and an approximate location (city or region) derived from your IP address.
Why: to understand how the site is used and improve it.
Legal basis: consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time with Analytics settings in the footer.
Retention: up to 14 months for user and event data in Google Analytics 4.
Technical and security data
What we collect: your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, as logged by our hosting provider. Our forms also use your IP address for a few minutes to block automated abuse; it is not stored with your request.
Why: to deliver the website and keep it secure.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Retention: as short as our hosting provider's log retention allows, normally days to a few weeks.
Clients
When a firm engages us, we keep the contract, proposal, correspondence and invoices. Legal basis: performance of the contract and compliance with legal obligations (Article 6(1)(b) and (c) GDPR). Retention: for the duration of the engagement plus 5 years (the limitation period in Article 3:310 of the Dutch Civil Code); financial records for 7 years, as Dutch tax law requires.
Any data we handle inside a client's own systems during a project is processed on that firm's instructions under a separate data processing agreement. That processing is not covered by this policy.
No automated decisions
We do not make decisions about you by automated means that produce legal effects or similarly significantly affect you. A person reads every request.

- the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, for certified US companies;
- standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission;
- adequacy decisions of the European Commission;
- encryption in transit and access controls.
For details of the safeguard behind a particular transfer, contact leads@findlawyer.nl.
07How we protect it
- Encryption in transit (HTTPS) on every page and form.
- Multi-factor authentication on the accounts used to access personal data.
- Access limited to the people who need it.
- Confidentiality obligations for anyone with access.
- Regular updates and a periodic review of access rights.
- A procedure for handling data breaches.
If a personal data breach poses a risk to your rights, we will notify the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens within 72 hours of becoming aware of it (Article 33 GDPR). If the risk is high, we will also tell you without undue delay (Article 34 GDPR).
08Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to:
- access your data and receive a copy (Article 15);
- have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected (Article 16);
- have your data deleted, unless we must keep it for a legal obligation or a legal claim (Article 17);
- restrict how we use your data (Article 18);
- receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format (Article 20);
- object to processing based on our legitimate interest (Article 21);
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting earlier processing (Article 7(3)).
How to exercise them: email leads@findlawyer.nl with the subject “GDPR rights request”, say which right you want to use, and include the email address you used with us. We may ask for more information to confirm who you are. We aim to acknowledge requests within 2 business days and reply within 1 month (Article 12(3) GDPR), extendable by 2 months for complex requests, in which case we will tell you within the first month. Requests are free unless they are manifestly unfounded or excessive.
Complaints: you can complain to the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl, +31 70 888 85 00, Bezuidenhoutseweg 30, 2594 AV Den Haag) or bring a claim before the competent court.
10Children
This website is aimed at law firms and professionals. It is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact leads@findlawyer.nl and we will delete it.
11Other websites
This website links to other sites, such as findlawyer.nl and LinkedIn. Their own privacy policies apply once you leave leadviselegal.com.
12Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our processing or the law changes, and change the date and version at the top. This policy is an information notice, not a contract. If a change needs your consent, we will ask for it separately; continuing to use the website is never treated as consent. Previous versions are available on request.
